Ex-Police Captain Has Cell Phone Rage…

Anger and Rage…the new addiction?  Everyone is addicted to something.  Sex, drugs, caffeine, coffee.  How about the chemical that your brain secretes when you get angry?  That becomes quite a rush, when the chemicals are released. The need to increase the rush is heightened by more aggression, leading to rage and violence.  If someone was being annoyed by something, like a cell phone in a movie, moving their seat would end the issue or negative stimulus causing the problem, but shooting someone increases the addictive chemical and warms the body, leaving the shooter with a heightened  sense of  well-being.  With police there is an added element.  Can you guess what it is?

Ask The Expert- Today’s Topic: Working With Athletes

QUESTION:  ”I know you work with athletes, dealing with their issues in drugs, alcohol, guns, gambling, women and anger.  What do you different with them that you don’t do with other people?”  Alex C., New York, New York

ANSWER:  ”When I work directly with athletes, we focus on them as individuals.  We focus on their talents on the field or court and work with them when their head is in the game and out.  We handle all the issues and concerns that are specific to them and their career.  We also deal with anger management and things that are relevant to them, like taking guns into nightclubs and domestic violence.  So it is specific and individualized.  You can find more about us on http://www.theaddictionscoach.com/

Ask The Expert: Today’s Topic- Mobile Rehab

Question:  What is this mobile rehab thing you do and how is this mobile rehab different from drug and alcohol treatment facilities?  George F., Brunswick, NJ

Cali Estes’ Answer: At The Addictions Coach we offer a unique service.  We take drug and alcohol treatment to the next level.  We actually bring the therapy to the client.   We offer the same services that a drug and alcohol treatment center can offer, however, treatment is at the clients home, office and work space.  We also condense the treatment and do it in 7 days, an intensive one on one experience.  We get to the root cause of the issues quickly and move forward with the client to resolve their issues.  No groups, no meetings.  Insane?  The idea is different but it works.  We have nothing but success stories.

Should Dennis Rodman blame his poor decisions on Addiction or just Stupidity?

Dennis Rodman has befriended the leader of North Korea, yes the one that has declared war on the USA and sent rockets up against UN rules. Rodman has visited him on several occasions, blind to the fact that Kim Jong Un possibly just fed his uncle to wild dogs and his aunt has gone missing. So what is really going on with Dennis Rodman? Well, according to him he was ‘drinking’ and making bad decisions. See the article below and give an opinion!

Michael Bay: From Behind The Camera To The Front. What Causes Social Anxiety?

The Expert answers:
Cali Says:  “When you go from behind the camera to the front, it changes your perspective and your comfort level.  It is why coaches are great at coaching and not playing.  Directors are good at giving orders and creating the product, not being onstage in the product.  If you look at the video of Michael Bay above, in the beginning you can see he is nervous on that stage, in front of the camera.  His aids probably told him to just read the words and you will be fine.  Then the words, his safety net, were gone.  Fight or flight kicked in and he fled.  At The Addictions Coach and The Addictions Academy, we specialize in stress and anxiety. We can use behavioral modification techniques to assist in these events and others.”

ASK THE EXPERT- Today’s Topic: Recovery Coaching As A Career

Question:  “I was thinking of getting into Recovery Coaching, but I don’t know where to start.  What are your thoughts?”   Jeremy B.

Cali Estes says: “Recovery Coaching is a career on the rise.  As insurance fluctuates for what drug and alcohol treatment centers will accept, people still need quality care and they are willing to pay for it.  Also the buzz word ‘coach’ is very popular now and a lot of people do not like the stigma of going to a therapist or counselor, but everyone from top executives to the mom next door has a coach.”   At The Addictions Academy we offer the only National Certification Program in Recovery Coaching.  Check us out at https://theaddictionsacademy.com/ or call us at 786.709.0479

ASK THE EXPERT- Today’s Topic: Recovery & Sober Coaching vs. Therapy

Question: “What exactly is Recovery Coaching or Sober Coaching and how is that different from therapy?” John S. Austin Texas

Answer:  “Recovery Coaching or Sober Coaching is different from therapy because in coaching we move forward and in therapy we move backwards with the clients.  In Recovery Coaching we focus on the now behaviors and discuss what results are wanted now and in the future.  We then discuss the blocks and obstacles that get in the way of those goals.  Together we formulate a plan that will assist the clients in moving forward and meeting those goals. With therapy, it can take years, Recovery Coaching takes weeks to months.  I actually look forward to when my clients fire me because they are doing so well. ”
