PROFESSIONAL HARM REDUCTION COACH CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM

Harm Reduction Coach Certification and Training (MAT) for those that want to understand Medically Assisted Treatment Protocols in addiction treatment.  We offer the only Nationally Certified Harm Reduction Coach Training and Certification at this time for you to learn and offer as a service to your clients. Harm Reduction simply means to reduce the harm. Not all clients will want to be 100% sober all the time and you need to have a different protocol and training program on hand for those clients. That is this program. It contains all the controversial methods that have seen success in Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden.

Harm reduction (or harm minimization) is a scope of general public health policies intended to lessen the unsafe results connected with different human practices, both lawful and illicit. Harm reduction strategies are utilized to oversee practices, for example, recreational drug use and sexual activities in various settings that range from services to geographical districts. This class will include discussion and education on clean needle programs and safe injection sites, Medically Assisted treatments, and Opioid Use Disorder protocols (MAT) like Suboxone, Methadone, and Vivitrol. Included in this class is also discussion and education on Cannabis and medical Marijuana, controlled drinking, porn/sex reduction (prostitution/HIV/sex workers), food and sugar addiction, gambling and gaming, and more.

Being a Professional today means being an expert in your respective niche.  You must be well-rounded and know all aspects of your industry. Professionals in the addiction recovery industry today need to have an in-depth understanding of all of the treatment modalities available to clients. It doesn’t mean that the professional has to agree or disagree, approve, or disapprove of any particular modality as the client will choose the modality that they wish to utilize in their own recovery.  Even if the recovery professional happens to be in recovery and experienced in a certain modality, it would be considered unethical for the professional to try to push one modality over another. You need to be well versed in all aspects of addiction and treatment and available to deliver the best possible service to your client.

NOTE: There are NO prerequisites to this course and the Harm Reduction Certification and Training includes an ethics class and 10 hours of master coach supervision. We do offer Job Board, Networking, and Business/Private Practice assistance. We also hire from within once you are trained, certified, insured, and bonded.

Frequently Asked Questions About Harm Reduction Coaching

Harm Reduction means lessening the harm and meeting the client where they are at. You can offer medically assisted treatments (Suboxone, Methadone, Vivatrol), controlled drinking, medical marijuana or even less usage of drug or alcohol. It is not complete abstinence.

The largest goal of harm reduction is to meet the client where they are in real time. The second goal is to reduce harm, for example, clean needle programs have reduced HIV by 18% and MAT have reduced opiate overdoses by 50% according to the CDC.

MAT for short is any opiate program where you replace one opiate or opiod medication for another. In this case Suboxone, Methadone and Vivitrol are the replacements along with therapy and counseling to help a heroin or Opioid pill addict recovery from years of use.

Controlled Drinking is teaching an alcoholic how to manage their use on a real time real world basis. For example, having a glass of wine with dinner but not getting drunk. While not every client can manage controlled drinking, there are many that this works for. There are tricks they need to follow like drinking one class of wine or beer (no hard liquor), then one water per hour to minimize use.
