Our comprehensive Professional Mental Health Coach Training and Certification Program will teach you how to work with clients that struggle with mental health issues. Our Certified Mental Health Coach Course is designed for the coach that wants to understand mental health issues and how to assist clients before they get into crisis mode. Stress can manifest as different disorders and can cause fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, somatoform disorders, and more. Topics such as drug and alcohol addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, narcissism, ADHD, and Asperger’s will be discussed.  Ways to coach your client with ongoing mental health issues and assessment tools are provided.

The Mental Health Coach Certification is designed for life coaches and those in the helping professions that need deeper training in specific issues related to anxiety, depression, stress, addiction, eating disorders and other diagnosis in the DSM. More complex issues such as: borderline, bi-polar, schizophrenia and the antisocial personality disorders will be covered. How to recognize specific mental health issues, ways to coach, assessment tools, overcoming obstacles, and duties and responsibilities of a coach will be covered. Legal and ethical considerations will be taught.   

You will learn the proper channels for referral and the growing relationship between clinical professionals, therapists, and coaches. There is a big difference between Mental Health Counseling or Therapy and Mental Health Coaching. This course will differentiate the two modalities, when to refer out and when to use Duty to Warn. You will learn all facets of mental health issues as in the DSM 5, and how to assist your clients in dealing with them to have a productive, fulfilled and happy life.  

NOTE:  There are NO prerequisites to this class, however, an understanding of our classes: Certified Recovery Coach and/or Certified Life Coach is preferred. Included is the Mental Health Coach Certification, an ethics class, and 10 hours of master coach supervision. We do offer Job Board, Networking, and Business/Private Practice assistance. We also hire from within once you are trained, certified, insured, and bonded.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sober Companions

Not everyone will, but if you are just coming out of a residential program or our Sober on Demand concierge coaching, you can likely benefit greatly from having one. If you attend a high-stress event, like a wedding, job duty, or other event, you should have a sober buddy to go with you for support and guidance.

Sober companions are certified, bonded, insured, and long-term sober individuals who can offer the right support for those looking to get and stay clean. They are available as a live in at your residence, or just to accompany you to events, work, gym, grocery, meetings, outings, and other high-risk situations. They can help with mental health issues like ADD, depression, eating disorders and various types of addiction: drug addiction, alcohol addiction, food addiction and sex addiction.

Your therapist serves as your guide in your journey, helping you uncover truths about your addiction and develop the skills you need to stay clean. A sober companion is someone who supports the work you do with your therapist by accompanying you through life outside of therapy.

You should be certified as a sober companion, bonded, and insured. You should also have at least five years of sobriety under your belt before you take on clients. You can get your certification through The Addictions Academy.
