Certified Trauma Coach Training

Nationally Certified Trauma Coach Training (NCTC)

Our comprehensive Professional Trauma Coach Training and Certification Program will teach you how to work with clients that have various levels of trauma. Trauma Certified Coaches have training in client regulation, brain-body connection, behavioral reaction, different types of traumas, leading causes, and latent symptoms. Trauma affects not just the physical body, but mental state and emotions. It can manifest as different disorders and can cause fatigue, anxiety, panic attacks, somatoform disorders, and more. Many people will find coping strategies to deal with their underlying trauma, such as drug and alcohol addiction, fears, anxiety, avoidance, apathy, and more.

The goal as a Certified Trauma Coach is to help your clients get to the root cause of the trauma and offer solutions to heal the trauma so that they can live a full, productive and happy life. We will teach you what trauma is, what types of trauma there are (in the DSM IV), equip you with assessment and diagnostic tools to uncover hidden trauma, and of course, how to coach someone through it. Our Trauma Coach training is a must for any mental health professional, life coach, wellness practitioner or anyone operating in the healing arts (personal trainer, yoga teacher, massage therapist etc.).

You will learn the proper channels for referral and the growing relationship between clinical professionals, therapists, and coaches. There is a big difference between trauma coaching and trauma therapy and this course will different the two modalities. You will learn all facets of trauma and when to refer to the therapist for complex trauma such as C-PTSD, sexual trauma, human trafficking and more.

NOTE:  There are NO prerequisites to this class, however, an understanding of mental health or life coach is preferred. Included is the Trauma Coach Certification, an ethics class, and 10 hours of master coach supervision. We do offer Job Board, Networking, and Business/Private Practice assistance. We also hire from within once you are trained, certified, insured, and bonded.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trauma Coaching

A Trauma Coach is a certified coach that can help a client get to the root cause of their trauma understand their trauma and provide positive coping skills. A trauma coach will not deal with complex PTSD, human trafficking or serious violence but can help a client understand and heal from anxiety, divorce, adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and more. Simply put: they help the client get their life back

A trauma recovery coach will assist a client in uncovering and healing from their traumatic life issues such as divorce, addiction, sex abuse, violence, anxiety and more. The main goal of a trauma recovery coach is to get to the root cause of the trauma and help the client work through it. They guide the client on how to heal their wounds and return back to their original lives.

Trauma bonding is the attachment an abused person feels for their abuser, specifically in a relationship with a cyclical pattern of abuse. Trauma bonds also occur when two damaged individuals feel safe with each other due to the history of abuse felt on both sides. They finally feel that their partner truly understands their struggles.

A trauma-informed approach to care acknowledges that health care organizations and mental health providers have a complete picture of a patient’s life situation — past and present — in order to provide effective mental health services with the goal of healing a situation. Trauma-informed wellness and mental health practices can increase patient engagement, treatment adherence, and positive behavioral outcomes, as well as provider and staff wellness.
