Opiate Use Disorder Training
Opiate Use Disorder Training
The Addictions Academy Opiate Use Disorder training is designed for addiction specialists, counselors, therapists, peer support workers, recovery coaches, techs, hospital workers, and front-line caregivers, along with first responders (nurse, doctor, EMT, Firefighters, police, etc). This training covers how opiates and opioids became prevalent in the USA, how to address and combat the problem, and everything you need to know about Medically Assisted Therapies (MAT), HIV, and more. This training also comes with a self-study 6-hour ethics training course that is self-paced.
If you have ever wanted to know more about Opiate Use Disorder and addictions to drugs like heroin, morphine, codeine, oxycontin, oxycodone, Fentanyl, etc. This is the class for you. We will discuss medically assisted treatments like Suboxone, Methadone, and Vivitrol and how to safely taper and detox from opiate use. We will cover Acute Withdrawal, Post Acute Withdrawl, and how opiates affect the brain and serotonin/dopamine uptake receptors. Addiction versus dependence, how to handle an overdose, pregnancy, opiates and even HIV will be discussed. The Addictions Academy Opiate Use Disorder training will take an in-depth look at opiates and how to successfully assist your clients and patients in getting sober and handling the fallout from use.
NOTE: There are NO prerequisites to this course, however, most people that befit are addiction professionals, therapists, counselors, and those serving in the drug and alcohol addiction treatment or mental health sectors. Also included is a 6-hour self-study ethics class. We do offer Job Board, Networking, and Business/Private Practice assistance. We also hire from within once you are trained, certified, insured, and bonded.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sober Companions
Do I need a sober companion?
Not everyone will, but if you are just coming out of a residential program or our Sober on Demand concierge coaching, you can likely benefit greatly from having one. If you attend a high-stress event, like a wedding, job duty, or other event, you should have a sober buddy to go with you for support and guidance.
What is a sober companion?
Sober companions are certified, bonded, insured, and long-term sober individuals who can offer the right support for those looking to get and stay clean. They are available as a live in at your residence, or just to accompany you to events, work, gym, grocery, meetings, outings, and other high-risk situations. They can help with mental health issues like ADD, depression, eating disorders and various types of addiction: drug addiction, alcohol addiction, food addiction and sex addiction.
How are sober companions and therapists different?
Your therapist serves as your guide in your journey, helping you uncover truths about your addiction and develop the skills you need to stay clean. A sober companion is someone who supports the work you do with your therapist by accompanying you through life outside of therapy.
Do you need to be certified to be a sober companion?
You should be certified as a sober companion, bonded, and insured. You should also have at least five years of sobriety under your belt before you take on clients. You can get your certification through The Addictions Academy.
