PROFESSIONAL AMA/APA (Clients leaving Early) TRAINING PROGRAM

Reduce AMA APA Rate

Treatment Centers struggle with clients wanting to leave Against Medical Advice (AMA) or Against Professional Advice (APA) and sometimes the length of stay of your client does not meet the goal of the treatment team. When a client wants to leave it creates a crisis disruption that pulls all of the treatment team staff away from helping other clients to convince the one client to stay. This usually results in multiple clients leaving at once, because the treatment team is not trained in AMA/APA blocking techniques.

At The Addictions Academy, we have developed a training program that crosses clinical verbiage and retention techniques to improve the AMA/APA rate of your Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center or Mental Health Center Team. We will analyze the systems you have in place, meet your staff, and train them on both clinical terminology and closing retention tactics.  We have cross blended Motivational Interviewing, with Coaching and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy terminology and sales closing techniques for a proven system that retains clients. The relationship that is built with the client prior to treatment and during treatment is crucial to the success of that client and your center. We have a comprehensive training program that will assist your staff in quickly resolving the issue, resulting in less staff needed to block the AMA/APA client and fewer clients leaving resulting in more revenue for your drug and alcohol treatment center or mental health facility.

A happy, sober client is worth 4-10 referrals. An unhappy client is worth 40 negative reviews. Can you stand to lose 40 potential clients in this competitive market? This all translates into time lost and revenue lost.  Loss of services to other clients, loss of possible other clients, loss of revenue that you spend thousands of dollars to get started in the first place. The Addictions Academy and Rescue Rehab can fix that glitch in the system for you.

NOTE: There are NO prerequisites to this course and it is ideal for anyone that needs to learn how to block clients from leaving treatment early and keep them engaged in treatment. it also comes with our 6 hours self study ethics class (6 CEU’s) We have been training treatment center teams for over 6 years in these techniques. AMA/APA Reduction - IAAP Approved Course

AMA/APA Reduction - IAAP Approved Course

How do I stop people from leaving treatment?

There are specific AMA/APA block techniques that you can utilize to keep clients in treatment. These include some Motivational Interviewing, Positive psychology and NLP along with sales training. The Addictions Academy is the only educational provider that offers this specialized education and training to addiction treatment centers and mental health facilities.

Why is my loved one leaving rehab?

Your loved one may not be ready for treatment but most likely the treatment center that they are in right now is not a good fit for their specific needs and they have left or want to leave. Specific treatment centers are abstinence only and require their clients to attend 12 step meetings, others are considered harm reduction and offer medically assisted treatments (MAT), and others are religious. You need to make sure the addiction treatment centers is in alignment with the style of sobriety your loved one needs.

What does leaving AMA mean?

Leaving AMA means leaving against medical advice and is used in addiction treatment centers, mental heath facilities and hospitals when someone checks themselves out of a facility and the medical staff has not cleared them to leave. Also knows as APA or against professional advice.

What does block an AMA/APA mean?

Blocking someone from leaving against medical advice (AMA) or blocking someone from leaving against professional advice (APA). Basically getting them to stay in treatment until the treatment is complete, usually 28 days.
